River Flowing — “River Flowing” was inspired both by my weeks in Everglades National Park and more recent moments following flows of water in my hometown. I made these prints and the banner book that holds them as part of a zoom workshop with book artist Rebecca Goodale. My goal was to explore new ways of making images as well as a new book structure. The technique is reduction printmaking though I “cheated” a bit and overlaid different blocks, all with themes of water and watery motion. A banner book opens to a row of four prints but when you hold the book up columns of prints flutter down. These columns quiver and wave with the slightest breeze thereby giving them wave-like animation.
